Born in 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio,
Steve Meyer was the second of
nine children. He was raised on
the edge of nature, in the outskirts
of suburbia, bordered by farms,
fields and wood. Growing up in
the midst of nature bestows an
undeniable fascination with it.
Throughout his life, Meyer has
dabbled in art as a hobby, and was
drawn to stained glass as an artistic
medium in his early years as a
teacher. His work with stained glass
and glass sculpture began in 1974,
inspired by a leaded glass terrarium
which he saw but couldn't afford.
With the aide of a 2 dollar craft
manual and a 69 cent Red Devil
glass cutter, he began a life long love
for working with glass. He has
focused on stained glass culpture
since the mid-80's.
